Treasures

Hey guys, as my first blog I wasn't quite sure what to write about; until I opened my Bible to Mathew 6:19-21 NIV, and I came about this o so controversial subject: Treasures.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Here are my thoughts regarding this passage after meditation for a while in our modern situation. I think think the word of God is very direct and clear, but we as imperfect humans, take from it the portions that we "like" and are not "hard" to follow. This passage is very clear in where to place your treasures. I want you guys to imagine a leave, yes a beautiful green oak leave. Now, that will represent our time and lives here on Earth. Now, imagine the rest of the leaves in the world represent our time and lives in Heaven...whoaaa...that's a lot of leaves right; compared to that single tiny oak leave we represent the "Heaven leave" are impossible to count.
That my friends is what we have to compare and relate to this passage. Here in earth people worry about HAVING the best car, HAVING the biggest house, HAVING the most education and degrees, HAVING the most respect and acknowledgement. But unfortunately none of those things glorify or expand God's glory. The passage is stating that with our limited time here on Earth we need to use every minute for the service of Jesus Christ and try to be like Him every second of our lives. Is is hard? Yes, because as imperfect humans we covet and envy and want want want, not realizing that we are richer than 89% of the world. We all (this is an assumption I'm making) have families, homes, vehicles that move from pint a to point b, we have at LEAST cereal and milk and PBJ at home, and many have more than two pairs of shoes and more than five outfits.
Now, instead of being satisfied with the things we have, we worry about all the WANTS we HAVE TO HAVE just because "our neighbor, that we are never going to speak to probably" has them. Guys I know that on your way to church, school work or the park you see at least one homeless person. I encourage you to instead of ignoring them and criticizing their state of live, as Christians and as Jesus disciples that we are SUPPOSED to be, we give them nothing but love. Merciful, humble, unconditional love, and yes they are hungry and cold....so giving them a sandwich and a coat would be most appreciated and God my friends will reward your giving heart.
"Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7
The moral of the passage guys is simple, worry not about the things of this world, and lets focus on our goal, which is to be like Christ, and if he spent 1/3 of His ministry with the homeless, poor and needy...what does that mean we have to do.
P.S. When you get to heaven God will not be excited to hear that you would rather pay $300.00 for a purse, shoes or a shirt or $750,000 for a mansion instead of sharing your money with those that really need it.
Think about it and please, read your Bible, God wants to speak to you but we must first read what he wants to say and not try to figure things our ourselves.
With love in Christ,
Sissi Villamizar
